My art is deeply connected to the local landscape, especially the historic Leeds & Liverpool Canal. Connecting with our community
A significant part of my artistic journey involves the people I meet. This section is dedicated to sharing stories about the fascinating individuals, especially boat owners, who frequent the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. I hope this blog resonates with both canal users and the general public, fostering a sense of connection and appreciation for our shared local heritage. New posts are added weekly. This image is the newly opened ' Boatyard Bus Cafe', on Ellerbeck Boat Yard in Heath Charnock. Ellerbeck Narrowboats is located at Bridge 71 and situated at Rawlinson Lane in Adlington.
Sharing our lives through creativity
Work placed in cabinet at Chorley Library at beginning of July (for the whole of the month), helped along by my Grandson Hugo and daughter Kate.. My Grandson, Felix (who loves creating; drawing and writing himself), was at school at the time of delivering the images. The library is open to anybody in the district who wishes to share their work.. You just need to book a space to do so. We all appreciate the creative endeavor of others. There is a comment book with the work.. If you do manage to get to take a look, let me know what you think in the comments; constructive criticism is part of the creative journey.
Roses and Castles
Considering the history of the beautiful decorative Artwork that adorns boats, I quote the Canal & River Trust , on their web site, considering where the origins started: 'There are obvious links with traveler culture and their elaborately painted caravans, but historians have also identified similarities with folk art from Germany, Holland, and even Asia.
